Vipoo Srivilasa Happyland

Scott Livesey Galleries
28 March 2015

The intricacies of Vipoo Srivilasa's surfaces demand a slow and measured look.
His sculptures are so seductively decorated that one can miss the underlying, deeper narrative of Vipoos concerns. The exhibition Happy Land is the artist's reflection on settlement in Australian as seen through his particular Thai-native eye.
The following photographs concentrate on hand painted motifs  such as: feral pests (rabbits & cats),  reference to William Barak's paintings & nationalistic tattooing.

This is Vipoo's first solo exhibition at Scott Livesey Galleries.
